PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – On Friday, Florida said its final goodbyes to Bob Graham who most people would consider as one of the last of Florida’s elder statesmen.

A military honor guard placed the former Governor and U.S. senator’s body in the Old State Capital building on Friday morning. His body had laid in state for several hours.

His widow, Adele Graham, and his daughter, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham, spent about 30 minutes alone by the casket, then greeted around 1,000 mourners for over 3 hours. Among them were Governor Ron DeSantis and former Governor Bob Martinez.

Graham was a State Legislator in the early 1970s. He served as Governor from 1979 to 1987 and represented Florida as the U.S. Senator from 1987 to 2005.

Graham was living in a retirement home in Gainsville when he died on April 16th at the age of 87.

Bob Graham was buried Friday afternoon during a Graveside service at Tallahassee’s Oakland Cemetery, just a short distance from the Governor’s mansion.
