‘IT governance pays off’, says expert Alan Calder

/ IT governance is a term that is not yet fully understood by business leaders. In the last few years, however, it has increasingly attracted the attention of executives and senior decision makers because of the importance of IT for enabling business goals.

Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance and author of 'IT Governance: Guidelines for Directors' explains why more senior professionals are attending his IT governance course, Implementing IT Governance: Foundation and Principles.

“Business leaders recognise that IT is a highly valuable business resource. However, when IT operations and IT capacity can’t meet the business requirements, IT can become the bottleneck to business growth.

“Senior-decision makers come to our course in order to understand how to achieve the alignment of IT with business objectives. This means they need a new approach that encompasses various existing frameworks and standards, bringing them together in one integrated IT governance framework.”

The Implementing IT Governance: Foundation and Principles course is structured so that it positions IT governance in its wider context, whilst detailing the essential building blocks for reviewing all the core frameworks. The course then looks at the practical steps for integrating those aspects that are most appropriate to each individual corporate situation. The course includes an outline IT Governance Framework Implementation Road Map.

The IBITGQ Certificate in IT Governance Principles, which is included on Day 3 of the course, is awarded to those who pass the exam.

The next three-day Implementing IT Governance: Foundation and Principles course takes place in London on 4-6 March 2013. There are a few places remaining which can be booked online at
