Letter: Are you telling me no one in North Dakota is qualified?

Desiree Morton of Fargo writes, "A police chief from out of state. A school superintendent from out of state as well. I don't get it, I don't like it, and I really don't like paying for it."

Letter to the editor FSA

It was interesting to read about the Fargo Public School employees who work remotely from afar.

I just find it very ironic that we talk about bringing jobs to North Dakota, and keeping our young people in the state, and then our own local school system hires out of state and allows them to work remotely. Does this not seem a bit hypocritical?

I find it very hard to believe that there are no people in the entire state of North Dakota, or even in the city of Fargo, that are qualified to fill any of these positions. And seriously, $154,000 and $131,000 is not pocket change. That would be a very good living for any resident of North Dakota.

Why is it that we feel we have to go out of state to hire? A police chief from out of state. A school superintendent from out of state as well. I don't get it, I don't like it, and I really don't like paying for it.

Come on, Fargo, we can do better. Let's keep jobs in North Dakota, and let's hire applicants from North Dakota to fill these publicly-funded positions.
