The Saskatchewan Advantage Innovation Fund (SAIF) started accepting expressions of interest (EOI) on March 19 for its first scheduled intake of 2018.

To date, SAIF has funded 21 cutting-edge research projects and leveraged an additional $21 million in the industry and federal research and development investments.

The deadline to submit an EOI is April 30. If your EOI is successful, you will be invited to submit a full application. For successful applicants, SAIF funds will cover a maximum of 30 per cent of project costs.

SAIF has seen significant industry demand and has been fully utilized in most years since its inception in 2012.

“SAIF has been instrumental in fast-tracking innovation in a number of areas important to the province, including enhanced oil recovery and industrial genomics tools,” Minister Responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan Tina Beaudry-Mellor said.  “Continued investments will help support industry-driven projects that will positively impact key sectors of Saskatchewan’s economy.”

The program is now open to the manufacturing, health care and education fields focusing on the development of digital technologies supporting these sectors, along with funding for research and development projects in the oil and gas, mining and agriculture sectors.

The funding program was set up six years ago to help facilitate innovation in the province’s core economic sectors and their industrial ecosystems, supporting industry-driven projects that demonstrate benefits to economic sectors.
