Two short films, Sentencing Reform: The Power of Fear and Sentencing Reform: Drug Addiction give a voice to the 65 percent of the 2.3 million adults in U.S. prisons and jails who struggle with addiction. Ed Wood’s 1970 surreal sexploitation detective comedy Take It Out In Trade, which was thought to be lost until a copy was exhibited at the Anthology Film Archives in 2014, involves a couple who hire a private investigator to find their missing daughter. Wood himself serves as narrator, and as a drag queen named Alecia.

In Finnish author Jussi Valtonen's They Know Not What They Do, successful neuroscientist Joe Chayefski is led to reconnect with his son he abandoned 20 years earlier after his lab is destroyed by animal rights activists. The author will read as part of the Nordic Literary Series, joined by translator Kristian London.

Lauren Iida's paper collage exhibition features 100 hand-cut works inspired by Japanese woodblock artist Yoshitoshi's 1890s series of the same name. The pieces are also inspired by the artist's home in Cambodia and her Japanese American family's vintage photo archive.

Experience a night of switch-flipping, genre-bending musical throwdown as Silent City Productions presents the sixth annual Punk As Folk, a celebration of punk-inspired folk music and folk-inspired punk music. 54. Restorative Justice Poetry Slam
The National Center for Restorative Justice, an organization that seeks to answer the question: "How do we create the space for accountability and simultaneously build relationships?" will host a free poetry slam. Share your work or just show up to listen.

Drink beer and check out paintings that explore genetic engineering and the personalities of scientists. Plus, Arjun Khakhar will give a short talk on "plant synthetic biology."

I like my tribute groups ambitious, damn it. Tackling the big-band funk and celestial soul of Earth, Wind & Fire involves serious arranging, playing, dancing, and falsetto-singing skills. The nine-member-strong local ensemble Kalimba, the Spirit of Earth, Wind & Fire definitely have EW&F’s many hits down to a science, but what I really want to know is this: Do they play the amazing early stuff that didn’t tear up the radio, like “Bad Tune,” “Energy,” “Drum Song,” “Zanzibar,” or anything off the Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song soundtrack? I'm not finding anything online to suggest they are. Those were the real kalimba-tastic works, you know. DAVE SEGAL

The classic kid baseball movie The Sandlot has been around for 25 years. While the Seattle Mariners play the Minnesota Twins, take advantage of a Sandlot special to get a t-shirt and access to a post-game screening of the film. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of King County.
