Chet Greenwood, the Republican chairman in Orleans County, Vermont, said on Monday that he did not "think" he tweeted an attack on a woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Vermont publication Seven Days reported on Monday that Greenwood had deleted a tweet claiming that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was having a "sexual fantasy" when she accused Kavanaugh of pinning her to a bed and groping her.

"I think Christine was having a sexual fantasy," the tweet said, commenting on a report from the conservative Daily Caller.

“I don’t think I did that,” Greenwood insisted on Monday. “I don’t know how that got there. And I saw that and I deleted it. I don’t know. I can’t say how it got there. I deleted it.”

The GOP chair added that he feels "bad for Christine Ford for holding this back for so many years."

“[T]he Democrats held this information three or four months,” he concluded. “If they were concerned, they should have released the information.”
