ASC Cinematographers Headline Sold-Out NYC Cinematography Event

Award-Winning Documentary, TV and Feature Film DPs Go Behind-the-Scenes

I had a great time at Sight, Sound & Story. Not only did I have a great time speaking with Snehal, but also found the other presenters fascinating, and learned a lot.”
— Cinematographer Bruce Logan, ASC

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, December 13, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Manhattan Edit Workshop, the east coast leader in training for content creators, held its annual “Sight, Sound & Story: The Art of Cinematography” symposium on December 6th at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway. Three panels featuring award-winning cinematographers discussed their craft, followed by a networking party attended by industry-leading sponsors, filmmakers, and creative production professionals. Tohm Sansani, Director, Product Management at Vimeo noted, "Sight, Sound, and Story was a fantastic event. It brought together a diverse community of video professionals and filmmakers who all share the same passion for telling exceptional stories through film."

The program this year kicked-off with documentary DPs Alan Jacobsen (“Strong Island,” “Finding 52”) and Martina Radwan (“The Final Year,” “Inventing Tomorrow”) comparing and contrasting how their methods of shooting varied and carried the tone of the films they were working on. Veteran Cinematographer Bruce Logan, ASC (“Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope,” “Tron,” “2001: A Space Odyssey”) took the stage for an intimate discussion on his legendary career. He recalled how he got his start working with animation on Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey”, to exploding a model of the Death Star in “Star Wars,” to shooting scenes from the groundbreaking film “Tron.” The closing panel featured acclaimed veteran Robert McLachlan, ASC, CSC (“Game of Thrones,” “Westworld,” “Ray Donovan,”) sharing his insights from some of the most watched television shows in history. He took the audience deep behind-the-scenes of “Ray Donovan” & “Westworld”; and then the complexities of shooting hundreds of extras from a massive battle scene in “Game of Thrones.” Hugo Perez, Snehal Patel, and David Leitner moderated, respectively.

Panelist Bruce Logan, ASC commented on the evening as, “I had a great time at Sight, Sound & Story. Not only did I have a great time speaking with Snehal, but also found the other presenters fascinating, and learned a lot.”

“This is a wonderful way for people interested in cinematography to get access to the masters,” shared moderator and ZEISS Sales Manager Snehal Patel. “The DPs are happy to share lessons they learned on set, and insider information about how the industry works. I learned so much from these artists. Don’t miss the next one!”

The 2018 “Sight, Sound & Story: The Art of Cinematography” sponsors included Platinum and Networking Party Sponsor ZEISS, Master Storyteller Sponsors Adorama and Vimeo; and Technology Sponsor Shutterstock.
